Christians have the great honor and privilege to be able to communicate and be heard by the Almighty God - Philippians 4:6; 1 Thessalonians 5:17
The question that we want to answer is: To Whom Shall We Pray? Depending on who you ask, you will get various answers. For example:
Roman Catholics practice praying to the saints and Mary
Muslims pray to Allah five times a day facing Mecca, Saudi Arabia
Others pray to Jesus or the Holy Spirit
All of these are not authorized by God
- On, the sermon on the mount, Jesus explicitly gives instruction to his disciples to pray to the Father - Matthew 6:5-13; Luke 11:1-4
- When Jesus prayed, His prayer’s were always directed to His Heavenly Father
- In - John 11:41-43, before Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, Jesus prayed to His Heavenly Father
- When Jesus went to the garden of Gethsemane, before His crucifixion, Jesus prayed to the Father to let this cup pass from Him - Matthew 26:36-39, 42, 44
When Jesus was suffering on the cross, He cried out to His Heavenly Father, "My God, my God why hast thou forsaken me" - Matthew 27:46
- Prayers are render to the Father in Jesus name because He is the mediator or advocate between man and God - 1 Timothy 2:5; 1 John 2:1
- To pray in the Jesus name means to pray by His authority - Matthew 28:18-20
- The Bible instructs us, whatever we do must be done by Jesus authority - Colossians 3:17
- Let us be friends of Jesus and pray to the Father in His Name - John 15:14-16
